Hi Tim,

You're right it's a tragedy. Sadly though for politicians, aspiring
or established, from bitter personal experience almost a year ago,
discussing these things with the press leads to marginalization,
ridicule and in some cases personal abuse. The press have a lot to
answer for. I've found regional weeklies far more approachable than the
city dailies, but the regionals don't have the readership. In effect
the press dictates what the public care about, sport, self interest and
greed. The average punter laps it up and the needy suffer in a silence
that's deafening. Keep up the good work with posts like this.

Cheers!

Thank you for a thoughtful, well-written, and thought-provoking
post. I've been going around reading niche blogs and seeing how they
address poverty and loving it. You're right, we need to demand an
accounting from our leaders and quit asking: it's time to demand that
our tax dollars are spent on programs WE support! For my part I've dugg
your post, and I'm recommending your blog to an agile blogger friend of
mine (if he doesn't already read it).

Thank you again for supporting Blog Action Day!
