Idea for a Product Launch

Endofstory123_2 I love Stormhoek’s way of thinking. This post on their blog strikes me as a great way to launch a micro ISV product.

For the first ‘n’ people who buy your product after its launch and send you:

  1. A photo of themselves
  2. The thing they like best about your product
  3. One way in which you could improve your product
  4. Their preference for red or white wine

You will send them a bottle of Stormhoek and a hand written thank
you card / note. You might have to make sensible geographical
restrictions, I’ve hear chartering flights to Antarctica has got really
pricey recently.

Adding the photos and comments to our product blog will hopefully
give a ‘real people buy this product’ feel. The fact that you would
publish what might be criticisms of your product will hopefully get you
some respect for honesty (I’m prepared to be wrong on this).

The thing I like the most about it is it makes you real. If you are
an Internet vendor, there is an inevitable disconnect between the very
real customer, and the product vendor who is nothing more than a logo,
blog, forum moderator, email address etc. Getting a handwritten note
and a bottle of wine should help add some flesh to your digital skeleton.

I think this offer should also be open to good beta testers, naturally.
